Having worked with students ranging from middle school to adult since 2000, I bring a depth of professional experience and knowledge to those who are eager to expand their minds, talents, and skills. I am at home in Classical, Broadway, and Pop music techniques Having taught at the collegiate level for over 20 years, I know what it takes to get ready for that university audition! And as a leader in the Virginia NATS organization, I can help you make those personal connections to the very best instructors in the state.

It is rare to find a teacher who blends real world vocal experience with a gift for inspiring young students. Our son, under Chris Mooney’s tutelage, has evolved over the last four years into a confident bass-baritone, earning admission into some great college vocal performance programs. Mr. Mooney gave him the confidence to earn a spot at the prestigious Tanglewood Institute Young Vocalists Program and placement multiple times in All State Choir, Virginia Honors Choir, and Summer Governor’s School. He has earned best soloist in regional show choir competitions. Chris has guided him in the development of a wonderful classical repertoire, encompassing both art songs and opera. His teaching style is both demanding and supportive. He knows how to get the student to where they need to be. Not only does he produce a great technical vocalist, but he infuses a lifelong passion for music that no one can ever take away. Our family can’t thank him enough for what he has done!
